2 Day Fleurieu Peninsula Tour (South Australia)

You will be collected from your Adelaide accommodation at 7.30am for your 2 day tour to Victor Harbor, Goolwa, McLaren Vale and Hahndorf.

Our first destination today is Mount Lofty Summit, around 30 mins from Adelaide. The summit is Adelaide’s highest peak and offers magnificent views over the city.

We continue to Hahndorf, Australia’s oldest German settlement, established by Lutheren refugees in 1839. The town maintains it’s heritage with over ninety 19th century buildings in the main street and continues it’s tradition of fine food and wine with a range of cellar doors, traditional pubs,Streamranger Cockle Train from Goolwa to Victor Harbor bakeries & cafes as well as art, crafts and a variety of shops.You have a couple of hours free time here to explore the town.

Leaving Hahndorf, we make our way south onto the Fleurieu Peninsula, via the historic and picturesque town of Strathalbyn. We arrive in Goolwa, Australia’s first Cittaslow Town and the gateway to the Coorong National Park. The Coorong National Park was listed Wetland of International Importance for Waterbirds under the RAMSAR Convention in 1985.We have lunch at Goolwa Wharf, before driving across the infamous Hindmarsh Island bridge and to the Murray Mouth for views of the Coorong and it’s birdlife such as Australian pelicans and black swans.

At 2.45pm, wetake a ride on the historic Steamranger Cockle Train to Victor Harbor. The train ride passes through the townships of Middleton and Port Elliot and offers spectacular views of the coastline and Southern Ocean. It’s also lot’s of fun !

Upon arrival in Victor Harbor, we make our way along the Granite Island causeway for a boat ride. We cruise along the northern side of Granite Island past the Penguin Centre to Seal Rock, where New Zealand Fur seals and Australian Sea Lions can be seen basking in the sun and often swim to the stationary boat to have a good look at the passengers!Boat cruise at Victor Harbor Seabirds and dolphins are also often in the vicinity.  **Cruises are conducted in an expedition style, rigid inflatable boat with life jackets and spray jackets provided. Maximum 10 passengers per cruise.

We finish the day at The Bluff (Rosetta Head), a prominent headland formed of granite and offering beautiful views of the harbour. 

Dinner this evening is at your own arrangement and expense and Victor Harbor offers a variety of dining options to suit all tastes.

Overnight accommodation in Victor Harbor (twin share- triple or quad share on request)

Day 2 (B,L)

After breakfast your guide will collect you from your hotel and take you into the town for some free time. Takea look around the SA Whale Centre, take the horse drawn tram to Granite Island or enjoy the lovely beach.

We depart Victor Harbor at 11am and continue north towards McLarenVale, the internationally acclaimed wine district and home to Victor Harbor horse drawn trama huge variety of wineries, as well as a lavender farm, a chocolate factory and a range of local producers.  

We have lunch and then spend the afternoon visiting some of the wineries (we’re happy to take requests or we can choose), from larger well-known wineries, such as Wirra Wirra and Hardys Tintara to small boutique wineries. We can also visit the Almond Train, Medlow Confectionary, the McLaren Vale Brewery and Lloyd Brothers winery which also offers a range of oliveproducts, sauces and Alpaca Products. 

We drive back into Adelaide and you will be dropped off at your accommodation at approximately 5.30pm.
