11 Day Top End & Red Centre Tour
Day 1 (L,D)
You will be collected from your Darwin accommodation
at 7 am for your 11 day NT adventure!
We head south along the Stuart highway and then
towards the Cox peninsula on our way to the Territory Wildlife park,
where we spend the morning. The many exhibits include a nocturnal
house, an aquarium, aviaries and bird of prey display.
Then we head to Berry Springs for a swim and a
picnic lunch.
After lunch, we’ll make our way into Litchfield
National Park , via the unsealed road.
We’ll spend the afternoon having a swim in
Wangi falls and enjoying a guided walk to the top of the falls through
the monsoon vine forest.
Tonight, dinner will be served at the Monsoon Café.
Overnight in the permanent safari camp.
Day 2 (B,L,D)
This morning we’ll explore Florence and Tolmer
Falls, Buley Rockhole and the Magnetic Termite mounds, with opportunities
for swimming.
Then we head to Kakadu, with lunch en-route.
The rest of the afternoon is spent at Ubirr Rock,
with its extensive galleries of Aboriginal art. Your guide will
interpret the art for you and take you to the lookout, where you
will have a panoramic view of the Arnhemland escarpment and floodplains,
as the sun sets.

Day 3 (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we’ll take the Guluyambi
cultural cruise on the East Alligator River and have the opportunity
to learn about the aboriginal way of life from hunting methods to
dreamtime legends.
Onto
the Bowali Visitors Centre for a look around and then we head to
Nawalandja lookout to soak up some magnificent views.
A picnic lunch will be served at Angbangbang Billabong.
We’ll spend the afternoon at Nourlangie Rock,
an ancient Aboriginal living shelter, exploring the area and the
rock art.

Day 4 (B,L,D)
An early start this morning (but it’s worth
it!) as we enjoy sunrise on the Yellow Waters Cruise, as the birds
and the wildlife wake for the day. After the cruise, we’ll
head back to camp for a cooked breakfast, and then visit the Warraddjan
Aboriginal Cultural centre.
The rest of the day is spent in the south of the
park at Barramundi Gorge and Gunlom. Both have waterfalls and plunge
pools to relax in.

Day 5 (B,L,D)
This morning we’ll leave Kakadu via the south
entrance.
There’s time to pop into Edith Falls for
a quick swim and then we’ll head to Katherine.
After lunch at the Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) visitors
centre ,you have the choice of either the half day canoes or the
4 hour boat cruise , to explore the gorge.
There is some free time after the cruise to take
a walk into the gorge or to simply relax and take in your surroundings.

Day
6 (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we’ll continue south to
Mataranka, where we can take a dip in the thermal hot springs.
Lunch is at the historic Daly waters pub and then
we’ll continue on to Renner Springs for our overnight camp.

Day 7 (B,L)
We continue south, stopping at the Devil’s
Marbles for a look around and Barrow Creek pub
for a leg stretch.
Then onto Alice Springs, late afternoon.
This evening is free for you to relax or take a
walk around the town.
Overnight camp or at your choice of accommodation
in Alice Springs (own expense).
Day 8 (B,L,D)
This morning, we’ll continue our journey
through the Red Centre to Ayers Rock.
We’ll have a picnic lunch on arrival before
we enter the park.
The afternoon is spent exploring Kata Tjuta (The
Olgas).
Back to Uluru for a champagne sunset as you watch
the colour changing over the famous monolith.

Day 9 (B,L,D)
Up early today for sunrise at Uluru and then you
can tackle the climb or take the base walk around Uluru.
We’ll visit the Cultural Centre for a look
around and morning tea and then head to Kings Creek Station, with
lunch en-route.
This afternoon, there are optional activities to
enjoy such as Helicopter flights, quad biking and camel rides or
simply relax by the pool.

Day 10 (B,L,D)
Another early start this morning for sunrise on
top of Kings Canyon.
The spectacular rim walk offers panoramic views
of the surrounding desert country and the walk itself takes you
through sandstone formations, a natural amphitheatre and the ‘garden
of Eden’ rock pool.
We’ll
head along the unsealed Mereenie Loop road towards our next destination
- the Western MacDonnell Ranges. The trip along this road is an
adventure in itself and keep an eye out for wildlife along the way.
Lunch will be served en-route.
There will also be a stop to view Gosse Bluff Meteorite
Crater.
Overnight Glen Helen Resort campground.
Day 11 (B,L)
An early morning walk into Glen Helen Gorge to
start the day before returning to camp for breakfast.
We’ll spend the rest of the day in the Western
Macdonnell Ranges, visiting Ormiston Gorge, the Ocre Pits, Ellery
creek bighole and Simpsons Gap for sunset and wallaby spotting.
Back to Alice Springs to your accommodation early
evening.

in the Red Centre and while this trip takes you to the main attractions,
extra days can be added or substituted to incorporate some of these.
Places of interest include The Eastern MacDonnell ranges, Palm Valley,
Rainbow Valley and Dalhousie Hot springs in the Simpson Desert.
